Eighteen time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has climbed up to the fourth spot in the latest ATP rankings after lifting his third Miami Open title by beating long-time rival Rafael Nadal.

Federer continued his remarkable return from six-month injury lay-off as he crushed Spanish maestro Nadal 6-3, 6-4 in the finals of the Miami Open.

Federer, who also defeated Nadal in the 2017 Australian Open final and at the 2017 Indian Wells Masters, has now beaten Nadal in four straight matches for the first time in his career.

The win saw Federer move up by two places, while Nadal also climbed up two places to fifth, Sport24 reported.

Japan's Kei Nishikori, on the other hand, slipped three places to the seventh spot following his quarter-finals lost to Italy's Fabio Fognini in Miami.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray continues to remain at the top spot and maintains a comfortable 4,045 points lead over Serbia's Novak Djokovic.

The current ATP top 10 are:

1. Andy Murray

2. Novak Djokovic

3. Stan Wawrinka

4. Roger Federer

5. Rafael Nadal

6. Milos Raonic

7. Kei Nishikori

8. Marin Cilic

9. Dominic Thiem

10. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
