Somdev Devvarman's struggle on the ATP circuit continued as the fifth seed Indian crashed out of the Zagreb Challenger event after suffering a first round defeat against unseeded Yuri Schukin.
Somdev lost the fiercely fought opening round 6-7(3), 6-1, 1-6 to his Kazakhstan opponent.
Somdev has another tough task at hand in the doubles event as he and partner Ryan Harris are up against third seeds Nicolas Massu of Chile and Lukas Rossol of Czech Republic in the quarter-finals of the USD 50,000 clay court event.
Meanwhile, Prakash Amritraj's campaign ended in the doubles event as well after losing the opening round along with Roko Karanusic of Croatia.
They lost 4-6, 6-3, 8-10 to Hungry's Attila Balazs and David Savic of Serbia.
Prakash is already out of singles event after losing his first round match.
