Somdev-Conrad qualify for Wimbledon doubles

Somdev Devvarman and partner Treat Huey Conrad qualified for the men's doubles at Wimbledon, taking the number of Indians competing in the competition to five.

Somdev and his Philippines' partner Conard stunned top seeds from Poland Tomasz Bednarek and Mateusz Kowalczyk 7-6(8), 7-5 in the second and final round of the qualifying event, on Thursday night.

This is will be Somdev's second successive appearance in the main draw of the Wimbledon doubles event.

Last year, he made it to the main draw along with South African Kevin Anderson.

Harsh Mankad had booked a berth in doubles main draw of the grass court Grand Slam on Thursday, partnering Ilija Bozoljac.

Senior pros Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi and Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Boppana are in the main draw by virtue of their superior ranking.
