It’s a known fact that Pope Francis loves football. In his 8-year term as pontiff so far, he has received dozens of jerseys and footballs but the Vatican head received a new toy on Wednesday -- his very own foosball table.
The Pope was seen playing a round on the table that was presented to him at the end of his general audience by representatives of a Tuscany-based table football association, Sport Toscana Calcio Balilla in Altopascio.
According to reports, the mayor of Altopascio, Sara D'Ambrosio, wrote on Facebook that the table was designed to be inclusive and work well for people with physical disabilities to encourage their participation in sport.
Born in Argentina, Pope Francis is a well-known lover of soccer and is a fan of Buenos Aires soccer club, San Lorenzo.
