The 7th edition of UNICEF’s Soccer Aid charity football match saw famous faces from music, cricket, celebrity chefs as well as football veterans battle it out for charity at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Playing in front of a packed house, team England that was represented by former Liverpool star Micheal Owen, Olympic champ Mo Farah and pop musician Olly Murs among others duelled with World XI, which comprised Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt, former cricket Kevin Pietersen and former Man United player Juan Sebastian Veron.
The match, that saw former United great Eric Cantona make his at Old Trafford ‘comeback’, went into penalties after the teams were tied at 3-3 at regulation time.
England eventually won the match 4-3 after English actor Blake Harrison booted in the winning penalty.
But the real winners on the night were humanity and compassion.
