Pankaj Advani stars in India 'A' win

Pankaj Advani came back with vengeance as India 'A' got back to winning ways with a 9-0 thrashing of USA 'B' in the IBSF World Snooker Team Championship at San Jose.

After their humiliating defeat against England the team is now looking to secure second place.

On Wednesday, it refused to concede a single frame to the Americans.

Advani was in blazing form, registering breaks of 101 and 95 in his first and third frames en route to defeating Kai C Wong 102-44, 55-36, 108-24.

Yasin Merchant was also in top gear as he thrashed Sunny Ng 123-20, 74-8, 83-15.

National champion Manan Chandra had earlier notched a 62-5, 53-6, 69-0 victory over Tom Kollins, with by a break of 55 in the third frame.

India 'A' next plays Sweden in their last league match.

Meanwhile, England strengthened their title claims with a 6-3 win over Hong Kong, with David Lilley winning all his three frames, which included a break of 65.

Sweden enhanced their chances of making it to the last eight after defeating Isle Of Man 8-1 in their Group A encounter.

In the other group, India 'B', comprising Rafath Habib, Siddhartha Rao and Aditya Mehta, got the better of USA 'C' 7-2, ending their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Australia clawed back from a 1-4 deficit to carve out a 5-4 victory over South Africa, thus maintaining their claim for a quarterfinal spot.

Scotland kept their dreams af advancing with a 7-2 win over Japan.

In the Seniors' event, the Indian team of Geet Sethi, Devendra Joshi and BVS Murthy maintained their unbeaten run with a 7-2 win over Australia to lay claim as the favourites for the title.
