Sindhu, Srikanth sail into semis of Malaysia Masters

P V Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth cruised into the semi-finals of the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold badminton in Penang on Friday.

Third seed Sindhu, who went into the women’s quarter-final against Lindaweni Fanetri with a 7-2 record, had things her way against the Indonesian, winning 21-10, 21-10.

The twice World Championships bronze medallist will meet either top seed Sung Ji Hyun of Korea or fifth seed Sayaka Sato of Japan next.

Second seed Srikanth was hardly stretched during his 33 minutes’ 21-15, 21-14 victory over China's Huang Yuxiang.

The world No. 9 Indian will meet Malaysia's Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin.

In another men's singles match, India's Ajay Jayaram, who won the Dutch Open and reached his maiden Super Series Final

at Korea, suffered a 16-21 16-21 loss to former world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.
