Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday surprised the Indian hockey camp, congratulating them over a telephonic conversation.

He lauded the hard work of the Indian men's hockey team and their Australian coach Graham Reid, speaking to skipper Manpreet Singh, Reid and the support staff after the team's bronze medal win at the Olympic Games.

The Indian men's hockey team won an Olympic medal for the first time in 41 years.
