SEE: Messi gets birthday surprise from Argentina teammates

Lionel Messi turned 34 on Thursday and the legend was given a midnight surprise by his Argentina teammates.

One of the greatest footballers of the modern era, Messi was greeted with a birthday tune and was presented gifts by teammates Sergio Aguero, Angel di Maria and others.  

In the video posted on his Instagram page, Messi is seen receiving a bottle of cologne, a hat, a packet of cornmeal, a couple of bottles of wine and a bottle of holy water. 

'Starting off my birthday with the boys, and receiving a few gifts. Thanks a lot for making this day special, although I can't be with my family, who I miss so much in these moments,' Messi wrote on his Instagram page.

Messi and his Argentina teammates are currently participating the Copa America in Brazil where he is hoping to lead his team to the title, having finished runners-up in the 2016 edition.
