Top seed Saina Nehwal pulled out of the Syed Modi International Grand Prix badminton tournament due to a hamstring injury and fever.
"Saina was suffering from slight fever and cold and during the practice session she complained of slight problem in the muscles," Vijay Sinha, General secretary of UP Badminton Academy, informed.
"Doctors have advised her at least three days rest, so she would not be a part of this tournament," Sinha said.
Saina has been playing one tournament after the other and therefore was feeling fatigue, Sinha added.
Saina, ranked fourth in the world, was to play Pai Hsuao ma of Chinese Taipei in her opening match but her pulling out has upset Indian challenge in the tournament.
