As the Rio Olympics is all set to go underway, the search engine giant celebrates it with an interactive doodle

As the world trains its eyes on the 2016 Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, on Friday, how could Google stay away?

To mark the opening of the Rio Games the web giant launched a series of interactive doodles championing its own 2016 Doodle Fruit Games.

A big banner of GOOGLE can be seen in the background. When you click on the doodle, it directs you to the Doodle Fruit Games on their handsets by simply updating the Google Search app and tapping on the Google logo.

"Today marks the season opener of the 2016 Doodle Fruit Games! For the next couple of weeks, we'll journey to an otherwise unassuming fruit stand in Rio, where produce from all over the market competes for the title of freshest fruit," says Google on a blog post.

Fruits such as coconut, strawberry and watermelon from a fruit stand in Rio will compete in races and other feats of skill, strength and stamina for the title of "freshest fruit," the company said.

The Fruit Games appears to have events planned that mirror the traditional contest held at the Olympic Games, including track and field, swimming, and cycling, among others.

So, let the Games begin!
