Spanish football giants Real Madrid have stepped up their chase for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney by drafting in football's most successful agent, Pini Zahavi.
Rooney is one of Real chief Florentino Perez's top summer targets, and the club wants Zahavi to try to negotiate a deal with Manchester United.
"Zahavi has been told to do all he can to try to bring Rooney to the Bernabeu. The club is confident, a deal can be done," The Sun quoted a Madrid source, as saying.
Perez, who signed Cristiano Ronaldo from United in a world-record 80 million pound switch last year, normally gets what he wants and speculation about Rooney's future has intensified following revelations about United's precarious finances.
Zahavi has been involved in some of the most expensive (and controversial) transfer episodes and employing him shows that Real are serious in their pursuit of the 24-year-old.
