National champion Aparna Popat's fine run in the Swiss Open Badminton champion at Basel, Switzerland came to a tame end when she lost her quarterfinal match in straight games.
Popat, who had upset eighth seed Petya Nedeltcheva of Bulgeria, went down to fourth seed Jie Yao of Netherlands 4-11, 2-11 in just 18 minutes.
The only other Indian participating in the event, Nikhil Kanetar, had lost in the opening round of the men's singles.
