Paes and his Italian partner Daniele Bracciali were shown the exit at the Thailand Open, in Bangkok, while Somdev and his South African partner Rik De Voest went down fighting in their last four match at the Malaysian Open, in Kuala Lumpur.
Second seeds Paes and Bracciali were handed a 3-6, 4-6 defeat by third seeds Jamie Murray of Scotland and John Peers of Australia in a semi-final that lasted 64 minutes.
Somdev and de Voest failed to build on the advantage of winning the first set comfortably and went down 6-0, 2-6, 7-10 to Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in 53 minutes.
Paes and Daniele Bracciali had beaten the Colombian pair of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-7(4), 7-6(8), 10-8 in Thursday’s quarter-finals, while Somdev and De Voest upset second seeds Nenan Zimonjic of Serbia and Julien Benneteau of France 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.
