India's challenge in the boys doubles event of the Australian Open Junior Championship came to an end when top seeded pair of Sanam Singh and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan suffered a shocking 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 defeat at the hands of of Blazej Koniusz and Grzegorz Panfil of Poland on Wednesday.
The unseeded Polish pair broke the Indians twice and hit 11 winners to seize the initiative and take the first set 6-4 in just over half-an-hour's time.
Sanam-Jeevan played better in the second set, holding serve and breaking the Polish pair once to make a comeback with a 3-6 win. However, the Indians undid all the good work of the second set in the third set and were broken twice.
The out of sorts top seeds were beaten in the one-and-a-half-hour -long match, which ended India's hopes in the doubles event, both girls and boys, after Sanaa Bhambri and Sandhya Nagaraj lost the girls first round doubles match on Tuesday.
Sanam Singh remains the only Indian in the singles competition and he will take on unseeded Austen Child of New Zealand in his third round match on Thursday.
