I M Vijayan's late goal enabled JCT Mills, Phagwara, beat Hindustan Aeronautics, Bangalore, 1-0 in a National Football League match in Ludhiana on Wednesday.
The all-important goal was scored in the 82nd minute, Vijayan capitalising on a defensive lapse.
Both the teams missed several opportunities. Hardip Gill should have put the Phagwara team ahead early in the second session but he squandered an easy chance. However, Vijayan, who joined the action only in the second session, came to the rescue of the team with the opportunistic goal.
With this victory JCT have secured 18 points and climbed to the seventh position on the points table.
HAL have only 7 points from 13 matches.
