Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci left many breathless with her routine on the uneven bars, with a Perfect 10 at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

That was when she was just 14 years old.

Today, at the age of 57, Comaneci showed everyone how super-fit she still is.

Posting a video on Twitter, Comaneci tries to relive that historic moment by doing a cartwheel on a beach and she does it effortlessly.

"Here we go... 43 years later..July 18th 1976 Montreal ...First Perfect 10.....and my son photobomb handstand...," Comaneci tweeted on Thursday.

On Saturday, Comaneci, hailed compatriot Simona Halep's Wimbledon title win saying "no one in Romania will be working for a few days" as they would be too busy celebrating Halep's "amazing" victory over Serena Williams.

July is a month that will forever bind Romania's two most famous sportswomen because it was in July 1976 that Comaneci became the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 at the Olympics.

Forty-three years later, on another glorious summer's day, Halep could not stop smiling as she kept caressing the purple All England Club membership badge that had been pinned on to her grey hooded top.

"It's woman power," the 57-year-old Comaneci had told Reuters on Saturday.

"July 18 1976 was when I got my perfect 10. So July is a beautiful month in the history of Romanian sports.

"Forty-three years ago we had our last Wimbledon finalist (Ilie Nastase) and today Simona went one step further. She is making history as she is the only Romanian woman who has two grand slam titles."

In 1976 in Montreal, Romanian athlete Comaneci became the first gymnast in Olympic history to be awarded the perfect score of 10.0 for her performance on the uneven bars. She went on to record the perfect 10.0 six more times and became the youngest all-around Olympic gold medallist ever.
