Nadal cruises into first US Open final
September 12, 2010 00:49 IST

Spain's Rafa Nadal charged into his first US Open final after beating Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in Saturday's first semi-final at Flushing Meadows.

The world number one will play either Switzerland's Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic of Serbia in Sunday's final as he bids to complete his own career grand slam.

Nadal has already won each of the other major titles but had never made it past the semi-finals of the US Open before now.

Yet to drop a set in the entire tournament, Nadal completely overwhelmed the 12th seeded Youzhny on a perfect sunny afternoon in New York, racing to a lopsided victory in two hours and 13 minutes.
