The Romanian international was banned by the English Football Association (FA) and sacked by Premier League Chelsea last month after testing positive for cocaine.

The Romanian soccer federation had asked world body FIFA to clarify whether the 25-year-old
could train in Romania during the ban with his former club Dinamo Bucharest.

FIFA said he could train but he could not play for another club or his country.

"This suspension covers all matches including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures," FIFA said. Mutu has held talks with Juventus this week.

Mutu's suspension started on October 25 and expires on May 18, 2005.
