The Mumbai Hockey Association's newly-elected managing committee on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to its secretary Kehar Singh, suspending him from all activities of the association for 90 days with immediate effect.
"He has been suspended for 90 days for ungentlemanly conduct (at the committee's first meeting on July 3) which has endangered the harmony, character and stability of the association," said committee member and ex-India player and coach Joaquim Carvalho.
Carvalho said Kehar Singh had refused to provide the committee with all relevant files like members' registry and documents pertaining to various court cases when the entire panel had asked him to do so on July 3.
"He not only refused to do so but even threatened the committee members with physical violence. He also used unparliamentary language," the former Olympian added.
Carvalho said the committee invoked article 17 of the memorandum of rules of the MHA while taking the decision to suspend Kehar.
"We have asked him to submit an explanation of his conduct within 30 days," Carvalho said, adding the show-cause notice has been signed by MHA president Manga Singh Bakshi and vice-president P S Sujlana.
