Michelle Wie will make her Solheim Cup debut after being selected on Sunday as one of two wild cards in the American team.
The Hawaiian has been an attraction on the LPGA circuit since she first qualified for an event aged 12 but this is the first season she has been a full member of the Tour, having come through the qualifying school last December.
It is also the first time she has been eligible for the Solheim Cup, which is played every two years and is one of the most prestigious events in women's golf.
The 19-year-old Wie, who has yet to win as a professional, said: "I'm so honoured and thrilled.
"Getting into the Solheim was one of my big goals at the start of the year."
Juli Inkster was the other wild card named by captain Beth Daniel for the tournament at Sugar Grove, Illinois, from Aug 21-23.
European captain Alison Nicholas had three wild card choices and included Sweden's rookie professional Anna Nordqvist along with Becky Brewerton and Janice Moodie.
The USA have won seven of the 10 contests to date.
Catriona Matthews' win at the British Open on Sunday meant that she qualified for the Europe team.
