Irish female footballer Stephanie Roche, who currently plays for French division 1 Feminine club ASPTT Albi, has earned a unique distinction of being the only woman to have been shortlisted for FIFA's goal of the year alongside fellow strikers Robin van Persie and James Rodriguez.
Roche's stunning volley was among one of the 10 in the running. Roche has the opportunity to become the first female footballer in the history to win FIFA Puskas award, provided she manage to win the vote.
Commenting on her inclusion, Roche stated that she was lucky enough to have a video of her goal as most of their games aren't filmed. She further thanked those who voted for her and sought for more votes in order to help her win the title, the BBC reported.
Roche netted stunning volley against Wexford Youths, while playing for Peamount United in October 2013.
Other shortlisted goals include two World Cup efforts, which are Van Persie's header against Spain and James Rodriguez's goal against Uruguay.
The winner will be announced at the world governing body's annual awards in Zurich on 12 January.
