Commonwealth games gold medalist wrestler Narsing Yadav is likely to be made the deputy superintendent of police (Dy SP) by Maharashtra government in recognition of his achievement.
Yadav, who won the gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, is now in London as part of the Indian Olympics' team.
State Home Minister R R Patil signed orders to the effect on Friday, Home department sources said.
Patil had taken the initiative of honouring Yadav earlier but the concerned file was gutted in the Mantralaya blaze last month, sources said.
Besides, Pankaj Shirsat, who was captain of Indian Kabaddi team, will also be made Dy SP, sources said.
Their files are now awaiting a formal approval from Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, sources added.
