F1 aspirant Karun Chandhok finished a lowly 19th in the feature race of the GP2 Main Series, thus failing to buttress his case for a seat with the Force India Formula One team.
Karun's goose was cooked in the qualification itself as the Ocean Racing Technology driver came 20th, which left him with an unenviable task in the Saturday's race.
To make it worse, after the race got off to a rain-delayed start, leaves sneaked into his radiator air intake, forcing him to pit his car.
When he returned, Karun was handed a drive through penalty for cutting chicane and towards the end, the Chennai driver had an off-track excursion as well.
Dutchman Giedo van der Garde of iSport claimed his first feature race victory after a chaotic battle with Addax's Vitaly Petrov and Lucas di Grassi of Racing Engineering.
Karun is set to go through Force India's driver simulator to prove his Formula One mettle.
