Shiv Kapur shot a solid four-under 68 to make a big move, jumping from tied 36th to tied 11th at the halfway stage of the Ballantine's Championship. This brought Kapur to a total of four-under for 36 holes at the Blackstone Golf course.
The only other Indian to make the cut was Gaganjeet Bhullar (72) as he was tied 47th after two rounds.
Also at four-under for two rounds is World Number One, Lee Westwood.
Kapur started on the tenth and dropped a bogey on 11th, but birdied the 13th, 16th and 18th to turn in two-under.
On the steady second nine, the front half of the course, Kapur birdied the fourth and ninth to finish at 68.
Kapur and Bhullar were the only two Indians to make the cut.
Jeev Milkha Singh (74, 72) narrowly missed the cut while SSP Chowrasia (71-77), Anirban Lahiri (75-75) and Jyoti Randhawa (77-73) were way off the cut.
The day's highlight was the stunning 63 from Australia's Brett Rumford, tied second last year, stayed on course of improving on his previous year's result by carding a flawless nine-under-par 63 to take the second round lead.
The Australian, who started his morning round in tied-19th, stormed up the leaderboard with a two-day-total of 10-under-par 134 to take a three-shot lead over Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen and Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez who returned with matching 137s for a share of second place at the Blackstone Golf Club.
Overnight leader Damien McGrane of Ireland is tied alongside England's James Morrison and Wales' Rhys Davies on matching 138s in equal fourth while American Dustin Johnson is one back on 139 with Korea's Park Sang-hyun, England's Richard Finch and Sweden's Alexandaer Noren in tied-seventh place.
England's Ian Poulter and South Africa's Ernie Els will miss the weekend rounds after the cut was set at one-over par.
