The legends descended at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday night.
Chennaiyan FC wing-back Bernard Mendy was not the only one who had fans shouting themselves hoarse as he scored the match-winner in the hosts' 2-1 victory over Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League match.
The presence of India's mega film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth, and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar added to the festive mood at the venue.
Superstar Rajinikanth was in the stands to support Chennaiyin FC. The team is co-owned by Amitabh's son, Abhishek.
While it is rare to catch the legendary actors on screen together, for football fans and movie buffs it was a pleasant surprise to have both watching the action from the stands.
A magical goal by Mendy in the 63rd minute made even cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, who is co-owner of Kerala Blasters, applaud, even as Amitabh, Abhishek and and the Tamil mega star erupted in joyous celebration.
Chennaiyin now have two victories from as many matches, while Kerala are at the bottom of the table, having lost both their games in the inaugural tournament.
