After getting an entry into Olympics, the women boxing is now all set to make its debut in the Youth Olympics Games in 2014.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board in Durban decided to include Women Boxing in the official program of the Youth Olympic Games for the Nanjing 2014 Games, according to Indian Amateur Boxing Federation.
Women's boxing is one of two new sports added to the program of the Youth Olympic Games for Nanjing 2014.
"This decision will further enhance the development of women boxing from the grassroots level and help the very positive progress of AIBA's continuous efforts to make Women Boxing one of the most attractive competition programs in AIBA," Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, President of AIBA, the governing body for global amateur boxing, said.
PK Muralidharan Raja, Secretary General of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation said, "It is fantastic news and this alteration will provide an ideal platform to bring women's boxing at par with the men's event."
