Seven-time Wimbledon champion and 17-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer got a taste of India when he feasted on a giant naan (bread), served with the usual non-vegetarian and vegetarian accompaniments at a signature restaurant during his second trip to the country.
“Got naan,” Federer tweeted Monday along with a photograph in which he is all smiles holding a crisp giant-sized naan.
Federer confessed that he loves to eat Indian cuisine, since he eats it very rarely, in order to face the challenge of spice.
Roger Federer shone brightly on his first appearance on Indian soil as he fired the Indian Aces to a convincing 26-16 victory over Singapore Slammers in the Delhi leg of the International Premier Tennis League in New Delhi.
Swiss tennis legend said it is a ‘pleasure and privilege’ to play for the first time in India.
He was greeted by a huge roar when he made his entry into the stadium for his first taste of IPTL.
"It is very special to be here. I am getting special treatment ever since I have come here. I am very happy to be here. Thank you guys," said Federer while waving at the vociferous crowd after his mixed doubles match alongside Sania Mirza.
Ana Ivanovic and Gael Monfils led the way for Indian Aces as they edged out Manila Mavericks 26-25 in a thrilling encounter on Saturday. And their team also celebrated in style with Indian cuisine.
