Debutant Shilliong-Lajong FC made a forgettable outing in their opening game of the I-league with a 5-1 drubbing by JCT Phagwara.
JCT rode on a hat-trick by Baljit Singh Sahni and a brace from Balwant Singh for a convincing win.
Baljit put his side ahead in the 11th minute and 13th. After changing ends, Balwant Singh struck in the 51 minute to make it 3-0.
He again found the target in the 66th minute to further consolidate the lead (4-0).
Two minutes later, Baljit made it 5-0.
With just two minutes to go for the long whistle, Shilong-Lajong did manage to score through Michael Bassey.
