A brilliant goal from Akram Moghrabi in injury time helped Churchill Brothers earn full points against hosts Shillong Lajong in their round seven match of the I-League at the JN Sports Complex in Shillong on Saturday.
Churchill have 15 points from seven matches.
There was not much action in the first half except in the 25th minute when an unmarked Moghrabi failed to control a clean ball by skipper Henri Arnaud A Rebienot.
Had Akram controlled the ball and shot on target the story could have been different at half time.
At the change of ends it was Lajong who dominated proceedings. In the 56th minute Eugenson Lyngdoh volleyed the ball over the rival defenders and set it for Sushil Kumar whose shot was inches off the target.
In the 64th minute the tourists came close to changing the scoreline when Bineesh Balan volleyed the ball for Akram to nod home. But his shot kissed the post and went wide.
Moghrabi then, taking a long try, found the back of the net and earned his team a full three points.
