An injury-time goal by Jan Venegoor of Hesselink gave Hull City a 2-1 home win over Stoke City on Sunday and eased the pressure on manager Phil Brown.
Matthew Etherington put Stoke ahead in the 29th minute, smashing the ball left-footed after a long pass from Ryan Shawcross.
Seyi Olofinjana curled in a neat equaliser after 62 minutes and the game looked to be heading for a draw even after Stoke had Abdoulaye Faye sent off with five minutes to go.
Hull pressed on though and got their reward when Stoke keeper Thomas Sorensen parried a Jimmy Bullard shot straight into the path of Venegoor, who returned it into an empty net.
It was Hull's third win of the season and moves them out of the relegation zone on 11 points.
