Joshna Chinappa defeated Rachael Grinham to secure a place in the semi-finals while her India team-mate Dipika Pallikal lost in straight games against top seed Joelle King in the PSA HKFC International squash tournament, in Hong Kong, on Thursday.
Joshna won a close first game but went on to win the next one comfortably before losing her way in the third and fourth. The third seed bounced back to win the decider for a 15-13, 11-6, 6-11, 9-11, 11-4 win.
She takes on local favourite and second seed Annie Au in the semi-finals on Friday.
It was not a day to remember for Dipika as she was outplayed by Joelle of New Zealand 8-11, 6-11, 8-11 in the quarter-finals.
