The Rajasthan High Court issued contempt notices to the Sports Ministry and the Sports Authority of India for alleged political interference in the management of All India Karate Federation.
Justice M C Sharma issued the notices to Deepika Kanchal, Director (Sports) Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Executive Director of SAI, Joy Sabestian, and former Secretary of AIKF, P R Ramesh.
The order came on a petition filed by AIKF president Rameshwar Nirwan who alleged political interference in the management of AIKF by the Indian Olympic Association and the Sports Ministry.
The petition also alleged that IOA granted illegal recognition to a group of persons to man AIKF despite an undertaking given by the Ministry not to recognise any warring fraction till the matter is settled by the High Court.
"Any effort to scuttle the proceedings of the court will have serious repercussions. No politics to ruin the future of sports persons will be tolerated," Justice Sharma said in his order.
