Guangzhou: Sania shocks Amanmuradova

Sania Mirza entered the third round of the Guangzhou International women's tournament, shocking third seed Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan on Wednesday.

The unseeded Indian ace, who lost in the second round of the US Open after making it through the qualifying rounds, won 6-4, 6-3.

She was among Wednesday's four second round upset winners at the $220,000 tournament.

In other upsets of the day, Chinese wild card Han Xinyun beat fifth-seeded Kai-Chen Chang of Taipei 1-6, 6-2, 6-4; Maria Elena Camerin overcame seventh-seeded and fellow-Italian Alberta Brianti, runner-up last year, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 and Zhang disposed off eighth-seeded Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa 6-1, 6-0.
