Octopus Paul predicts Spain will win Cup final

Soccer fans across Spain will be hoping a "psychic" two-year-old cephalopod's fabled skills of prophecy will hold true for one final time at the World Cup after Paul the octopus predicted victory for their country in Sunday's final against the Netherlands.

With a 100 per cent record so far, the British-born aquarium dweller at Sea Life in Oberhausen, western Germany has become a celebrity having correctly predicted a series of German wins, even Germany's surprise group stage loss to Serbia, and Spain's semi-final win over Germany.

- Paul predicts German semi-final defeat

On Friday, Paul, who is based at the Sea Life Aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen, went for the mussel in the box with a Spanish flag rather than the one with a Dutch flag on it, during a performance live on German TV.

Before that, he predicted that Germany will emerge victorious in the third-place play-off against Uruguay on Saturday night.
