Defending French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka has revealed that his favourite nickname is 'Stanimal' which was given by tennis legend and Swiss compatriot Roger Federer.
The two-time major champion, who is popularly known as 'Stan the Man', said his lesser-known nickname conveys the aggressive dimension of his game while pointing out his ability to go the distance in long matches.
"It's Roger Federer who first came up with it on Twitter during the Australian Open in 2014. Sometimes he calls me that," disclosed Wawrinka, who recently won his first tournament in his home country after trouncing Croatian Marin Cilic in straight sets in the Geneva Open final.
Last year, Wawrinka crushed World No 1 Novak Djokovic's hopes of completing a career Grand Slam by defeating the Serbian in a gruelling finale.
