Nicholas Davidson, a former investigator of FIFA ethics committee, claims that the world's football governing body is no longer capable of protecting itself from corruption.

According to him, the US-led investigations into corruption at FIFA had pierced the veil of secrecy that protected football's top power-brokers and more dominoes could be expected, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Davidson, who is a prominent lawyer and honorary president of New Zealand's football association, resigned from his role from FIFA's investigatory chamber after seven officials were arrested by Swiss police with corruption charges.

Davidson said that there was a thin covering of people who make decisions, who have the ability to intercept or be involved in some way the huge amount of money that goes around.

He also said that this layer was now pierced and so it was bound to happen that people would talk.

“As Prince William said that this was the 'Salt Lake City Moment', and they all have just scratched it,” Davidson said.
