Manchester United have signed goalkeeper Lee Grant from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League side said on Tuesday.

British media reported the transfer was worth around 1.5 million pounds ($1.98 million). Grant will be a back-up to first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea.

"Moving to Manchester United has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. This was an opportunity that I couldn't let pass and I'm thrilled to become a part of such a historic club," Grant told the club's website https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/manchester-united-announce-signing-of-goalkeeper-lee-grant-from-stoke-city

"I want to say a huge thank you to those close to me who have supported me along my journey so far. I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates and giving everything possible for the club in the upcoming season."

Grant, 35, joined Stoke City in the 2016-17 season making 31 league appearances with regular keeper Jack Butland injured. However, he played just three league games last season.
