Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was left on the bench for Saturday's Premier League match at Wolverhampton Wanderers due to disciplinary reasons, manager Erik ten Hag said.
Rashford has rediscovered his form this season under new boss Ten Hag and came off the bench to score the winner as United beat Wolves at Molineux.
When asked why Rashford was missing, Ten Hag told BT Sport: "internal disciplinary. No details. Our rules. Now focus on the game. Alejandro Garnacho is coming in."
Rashford embraced Ten Hag after the match and admitted his mistake, smiling when asked why he had been left out.
"I was a little bit late for a meeting," he said.
"I overslept a bit. It can happen.
"Disappointed not to play but I understand the decision. I'm happy we managed to win the game. I think we can draw a line under it and move on."
The victory, United's third league success in a row, moved them into the top four, above Tottenham Hotspur, who play Aston Villa on New Year's Day.
