India have been handed a challenge as they have been drawn to play Canada in their Davis Cup World Group Play-off tie to be held in September.

This is the first time, after three consecutive home ties, that that India will play an away tie for a place in the World Group.

India have qualified for the World Group Play-offs for the fourth straight year. They lost to top teams -- Serbia (2014 in Bangalore), Czech Republic (2015 in New Delhi) and Spain (2016 in New Delhi) in previous three years in the Play-offs.

India have qualified for the playoff after beating Uzbekistan 4-1 in a home tie last week.

Canada had lost to Great Britain 2-3 in the World Group first Round in February and that team included doubles specialist Daniel Nestor and singles player Vasek Pospisil.

The Davis Cup draw, held on Tuesday in London, also threw up other interesting match-ups as Roger Federer’s Switzerland is drawn to play Max Mirny’s Belarus in the World Group play-offs to be held from September 15-September 17, 2017.
