Hosts India lifted the Junior Hockey World Cup title after 15 years by beating Belgium 2-1 at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.
Having dominated the proceedings for major part of the match, the hosts scored two beautifully crafted field goals in the first half through Gurjant Singh (8th minute) and Simranjeet Singh (22nd).
Belgium scored a late consolation goal through Fabrice van Bockrijck's penalty corner conversion in the 70th minute.
With the title in sight, the Indians went on the offensive from the word go and put the Belgian defence under tremendous pressure with continuous raids and their pressure paid off as the Belgians looked out of sorts.
Saluting this clinical show, join us in congratulating the Indian colts on winning their second Junior World Cup title.
