Sunil Chhetri did not play in Kansas City Wizards' second Major League Soccer match against Colorado Rapids but the Indian striker is expected to take the field in his side's qualification game for Lamar Hunt US Open Cup against the same opponents on Tuesday.
Chhetri was included in the 24-man roster after Hungarian striker Zoltan Hercegfalvi was ruled out for five to eight months due to an injury but he was not among the 18 players in KC Wizards' 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids on Saturday as he is yet to get clearance papers from United States Soccer Federation and MLS.
Wizards manager Peter Vermes said all the 24 players in the roster will get a chance against Colorado Rapids in the US Open Cup game on Tuesday at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
"Any competition that comes our way, we want to try and win it. We also have a game four days later in Seattle. We have a 24-man roster, and we are going to try and use our guys to the best of their ability," he said.
Meanwhile, media reports in the United States said there has seen an increase of 5,000 Facebook fans since Chhetri's signing and four goals for KC Wizards in practice matches.
