Balraj settled for a silver after narrowly losing his 76kg freestyle bout against Russia's Batyrbek Tcakulov as the Indian grapplers returned with two medals from the Cadet World Championship which concluded in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
Trailing 1-3 to Balraj with only 30 seconds left on the clock, Tcakulov drove through on a double leg, scoring a three-point takedown and one-point exposure hold to win 5-3 on the final day of the championship on Sunday.
The bronze medal for India came in the 42kg event through Jatin in the freestyle repechage final.
India stood fourth in the cadet freestyle team rankings amongst 48 nations that participated in the six-day long championships.
Russia maintained their supremacy by bagging the Cadet Freestyle title and were followed by Azerbaijan and Iran.
Though women grappplers Bidyarani Potshangbam (43kg), Divya Kakran (60kg), Babita (65kg) and Pooja (70kg) made it to the repechage finals of their respective weight categories, none of them could make it to the podium.
The women finished seventh in the team rankings.
