Brazilian Sandro strikes deal with Spurs

March 23, 2010 09:34 IST

Tottenham Hotspur reached an agreement with Internacional on Monday to sign their international defensive midfielder Sandro for next season, the Brazilian club said.

"Internacional and Tottenham signed this Monday the terms of an option for the sale of midfielder Sandro to the English club," Inter said on their website (www.internacional.com.br).

Sandro is a rising star in Brazilian football, having led the Under-20 team to the South American title at a tournament in Venezuela last year.

The 21-year-old, who earned one cap as a substitute against Chile in a World Cup qualifier last September, left for London on Monday for medical tests though media reports in Porto Alegre said he would not join the Premier League side until August.
