'Boring' Wozniacki turns tables on media

World number one Caroline Wozniacki turned the tables on the media after reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open on Friday, taking charge of her post-match news conference in a charming effort to prove she was not boring.

"Can I start this?" she said nervously on entering the interview room after her 6-4, 6-3 win over a wasteful Dominika Cibulkova.

"Yesterday I got the question by the media, they said that my press conferences were kind of boring, that I always gave the same answers," she said.

"I find it quite funny because I always get the same questions. So I'm just going to start. I know what you're going to ask me already. So I'm just going to start with the answers," she added.

The 20-year-old said she felt "great" on court, was "happy" to get revenge on Cibulkova after a loss to the Slovak last week, "happy" again to be in the last 16, felt no pressure at being number one without a grand slam win, and that her racket was "really great".

"Hopefully this was a little bit different than usual," she concluded, glancing up from her notes and smiling broadly at the laughter. "And now you can maybe give me some questions that are a little bit more interesting ... "

She then spoke on a range of topics as diverse as the return of Kenny Dalglish as boss of her favourite soccer club Liverpool -- "I'm hoping that that will give some positive energy into the lads" -- and global warming -- "When you take a shower, don't stay there for half an hour. Two minutes is enough. Even the girls."

The Dane also revealed she was looking for honesty in a prospective husband and that she had enjoyed trying out cricket with a couple of Australia players on Thursday.

However, it was only a matter of time before the issue of her number one ranking reared its head again. She was asked whether she was annoyed by such questions.

"I got used to them," she said. "I feel like I deserve to be there. I've done so well last year, and hopefully I can continue my roll this year. I know that you guys have to write about something, and that's a pretty good question to ask.

"But I think it's time to move on and ask some other questions now," she added.
