Top seeds Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi bowed out of the ATP Kremlin Cup after suffering a straight set defeat at the hands of Serbia's Janko Tipsaveric and Victor Troicki in Moscow.
The Indo-Pak pair went down fighting 4-6, 5-7 to their unseeded opponents in the quarter-finals of the $1,000,000 hard court event.
Bopanna, who is trying to enter the World Tour Finals, was to defend 90 points at this tournament but this defeat means he will get just 45 points.
He had reached the semi-finals last year with Tipsaveric.
Bopanna and Qureshi are a world number six pair and have to be in top-eight bracket to make the cut for the Tour finals.
