Ace India shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Chetan Anand notched straight-game victories to reach the pre-quarter-finals in the season-opening Malaysia Open Super Series in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
World No 8 Saina brushed aside local player Li Lian Yang 21-10, 21-12 in just 27 minutes, while National champion Anand defeated another Malaysian Kwong Beng Chan 21-19, 21-16 in 30 minutes.
Saina will next take on Japanese Ai Goto, who beat qualifier Jing Yi Tee of Malaysia 21-19, 21-16 in another women's singles match.
Chetan will face-off with the winner between Malaysian Wei Feng Chong and French Brice Leverdez in the pre-quarters on Thursday at the Putra stadium.
