Carolina Marin of Spain beat Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-17, 18-21, 22-20 to win the Hong Kong Open Super Series.
In doing so the Spaniard, a two-time world champion, took her sixth title of the year.
The world no.1 also won the All England and Super Series titles in Malaysia, Australia and France besides defending her world title in Jakarta.
Marin had six match points before finally sealing a memorable win in the 84 minute final.
"I think it was a tough match. She had a good comeback at the end of the game but I tried to just keep myself down and think positive things that I can beat her," said Marin.
On the men's side, former world number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia beate China's Tian Houwei for his third consecutive Super Series title.
