Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea breezed into the pre-quarter-finals of the men’s doubles at the Australian Open, beating Lukas Dlouhy and Jiri Vesely, on Friday.

The fourth seeded Indo-Romanian pair broke the Czechs thrice as they raced to a 6-3, 6-2 victory in 59 minutes.

They next take on 14th seeds Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi, who beat Brazilians Thomaz Bellucci and Marcelo Demoliner 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-4.

However, Mahesh Bhupathi's campaign at the Open ended.

The former Indian doubles ace and Gilles Muller were beaten 3-6, 2-6 by American third seeds Bob and Mike Bryan in 53 minutes.

Meanwhile, Leander Paes and Martina Hingis's mixed doubles match against Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Dominic Inglot of Britain was cancelled due to rain.
