Asian Games gold medal winner and former Rajyasabha MP Maruti Mane passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in Miraj due to prolonged illness, family sources said.
He was 73.
Mane had tasted success at international level and had made a name for himself in India by winning the Hind Kesari title in 1964.
Prior to that, he had won a gold in the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. He was also awarded with the Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar and the Dhyanchand Award by the Maharashtra and Delhi governments in 2005.
